What is this place?
I’ve had the great privilege of being a public health professional for a while now.
This has allowed me to travel the country and world and cultivate a perspective, documented by photos and videos. As I’ve studied and tried to solve problems related to homelessness, displacement and upstream health factors - I acknowledge that there’s more to share about the health of a place in between the reports and slide decks.
In other words, I’ve taken a lot of pictures everywhere I’ve been and I’m finally putting it all in one place.
What if I know you traveled somewhere, but I don’t see pictures from it?
Not everything is for the shot. Sometimes there are other reasons to be in a place and it’s better to “stay right here” (or I’ll just get to it later)
Why not just post these pictures on Social Media like Instagram?
Meta platforms like Instagram and Facebook are harvesting your and my data . Many other companies are brokering deals to take our data and use them for surveillance databases that will ultimately reduce all of our rights. I’ve abandoned such platforms and have moved to hosting these pictures on Squarespace because they maintain an adequate privacy policy for my personal data, and posting it on here does not immediately feed metadata for to be monetized by advertisers like social platforms do.
If you’re interested about these and other relevant action you can take to protect yourself and others, consider reading more about No Tech for Apartheid and the broader BDS movement.
Plus, it just allows me to broker direct conversations about my photos/thoughts with my friends and family instead of participating in the brainrot economy!
